Critiques
Originality: 4 stars - Despite the fact that mermaids are a fairly common thing to draw, the way you have presented it is very nice and original.
Technique: 4 stars - The overall look is very lovely and cute. ^_^
Impact: 3 1/2 stars - Mermaids swimming may not be the most controversial or earth-shattering thing, but the way you have done it is very pleasing to the eye and stands out. It stays in your head for a while, that's for sure. ^_^
My only complaints with this image is the stiffness of the arms and the lineart. Making your lineart a little thicker or darker would help make it look more defined. A trick I like to use with my lineart is to duplicate the lineart layer and then blur the duplicate. It makes it look soft but still defined. As for the stiffness of the arms, maybe try using a reference from a photo or another artwork. Try studying anatomy a bit more. Other than that, this is a BEAUTIFUL image! Great job!
